The Communist Party of Poland conveys its deepest condolences to the Cuban People on the passing away of Comrade Ramiro Valdés.

Comrade Ramiro, a founding member of the 26th of July Movement, participant of the Granma landing and one of the leaders during the Cuban Revolution remains one of the brightest characters in the history of the revolutionary movement.

During difficult times after the Granma Landing he did not surrender, and continued to fight when for the many the revolution seemed lost. He remained at the side of Fidel, Raul, and Che. During the revolutionary war, he served as second-in-command of Column No. 8 under Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.

After the victory of the Revolution Comrade Ramiro served his country on various posts as member of the  Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba , Minister of the Interior and Vice President of Cuba.

Through his work he greatly contributed to the modernization of Cuba and various gains of the Revolution. A successful revolutionary has shown ability to govern and build socialism.

Comrade Ramiro passed away but his extraordinary legacy and memory will live on!

Always to victory Comrade Ramiro!
