Helsinki, April 29th. - This afternoon the first virtual forum was held between the League of Young Communists of Cuba and the Communist Youth of Finland.
During the fraternal meeting, which lasted for more than two hours on the Jitsy Meet platform, the leader of the Finnish Communist Youth, Jiri Mantysalo condemned the unjust Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for almost 60 years, and underscored the importance of the example set by the Cuban Revolution, which has shown that an inclusive, just and more equitable society is possible.
The forum served to strengthen ties between youth organizations in both countries, as well as to reiterate the importance of energizing the struggles of the world left, especially in a complex context of the Covid-19 pandemic, where young people are key actors within the society.
The Head of the Department of International Relations of the National Committee of the UJC, Suniel Sosa Cordero sent a warm greeting from the First Secretary of the Organization Diosvany Acosta Abrahantes, reiterated the importance of the struggle of all the young communists of the world against global capitalism and expressed his satisfaction for holding this first and important meeting with the Finnish comrades, whom he took the opportunity to officially invite Cuba once the pandemic was over.
On the Finnish side, the Secretary General of the Communist Youth, Heikki Ekman and his economic and financial chief Erno Haverinen also participated. On the Cuban side, the delegation was completed by the National Vice President of the Youth Martiano Movement Idael Hidalgo Reina, the President of the OCLAE and member of the National UJC Leonel Pérez Freeman and the Charge D’Affaires a.i of the Embassy of Cuba in the Nordic country, Víctor Manuel Rodríguez Etcheverry.
