The Congress of the Confederation of Cuban Workers and the Congress of South African Trade Unions sign cooperation agreement

Pretoria, April 24, 2019.- The Congress of the Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC) and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday, in the framework of the XXI Congress of the CTC that IS holding sessions in Havana.
Secretary General of the CTC Ulises Guilarte De Nacimiento, and President of COSATU Zingiswa Losi, signed an agreement that shows the reciprocal interest in strengthening relations of cooperation, collaboration and exchange between the two organizations, as well as between branch and provincial unions, especially in the sectors of Education, Health, Agriculture, Construction, Energy and Mines, and Public Administration.
Both organizations also agreed to continue developing training courses for union leaders and to resume the systematic meetings between CTC and COSATU; as well as, make every effort to maintain the Health cooperation program between Cuba and South Africa.
"In Cuba, COSATU has friends, brothers, comrades in struggle," affirmed Ulises Guilarte De Nacimiento at the protocol event; while Zingiswa Losi emphasized that the memorandum "strengthens the ties between the peoples of Fidel Castro and Nelson Mandela"
The Congress of Trade Unions of South Africa was founded in 1985. It currently has some 9 million members, making it the largest trade union organization in the entire African continent. COSATU integrates, with the ANC and the Communist Party of South Africa, the alliance that governs that brother African country.
