Congress of Latin American School of Medicine begins in Cuba

Havana, November 13, 2024 - The First International Congress of Graduates from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) begins today in the Cuban capital, with topics such as primary health care, emergencies, natural disasters and pedagogy in higher medical education.

According to the program of the event, which will be held at the Havana Convention Palace until the 15th, the meeting will host the 2nd International Assembly of Graduates (SMI-ELAM) and will also serve as a space to discuss postgraduate training, challenges and experiences in the medical sciences.

The meeting is part of the activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Cuban institution, which has trained more than 30,800 doctors from more than 120 countries.

The organizers pointed out that there will be presentations by Cuban and foreign specialists, as well as experts from international organizations, in the form of keynote lectures.

There will also be panels, round tables, research presentations and other forms of dissemination of scientific and technological innovations. It will also be attended by directors, workers, teachers, graduates, students and researchers directly related to university medical education.

Through videoconferencing, the event will allow the participation in pre-congress courses on current topics of interest for higher education and medical sciences.
