London, February 16, 2025 - This Saturday afternoon, Cubans living in London participated in a conversation with the deputy of the National Assembly of People's Power and president of the Cuba-UK Interparliamentary Group, where several issues of interest to the Cuban community abroad were discussed.
During the meeting, the humanitarian and social work carried out by the Quisicuaba Sociocultural Project in Cuba was highlighted, highlighting its role in assisting vulnerable sectors and its positive impact on Cuban society.
For her part, Cuba's consul in the United Kingdom, Ivian Alfonso, gave a detailed update on the new migration regulation presented in June 2024 before the National Assembly of People's Power, which provides, among other measures, for the possibility of reinsertion of Cubans living abroad who wish to return to the country. Ivian Alfonso also addressed aspects related to the current migratory situation, clarifying doubts and guiding the attendees on the current procedures.
The exchange also served to highlight international solidarity with Cuba, including support from the United Kingdom, especially in times of economic and social challenges for the island. Participants highlighted as an example the support provided by initiatives such as Quisicuaba, which continue to receive solidarity support from various latitudes.
The meeting concluded with a call to strengthen ties between Cubans living abroad and their country of origin, as well as to maintain active collaboration and support for initiatives that contribute to the well-being of the Cuban people.
