Dublin, August 15, 2026. The communist youth organization "Connolly Youth Movement" (CYM) gathered today in the Irish capital to pay tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on the centenary of his birth, in the presence of Cuba's Ambassador to Ireland, Bernardo Guanche Hernández.
CYM members presented the Cuban diplomat with a gift bearing Fidel's likeness and the inscription: "100 – Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution."
The occasion provided an opportunity for CYM members to express their solidarity with Cuba. They also condemned the energy blockade imposed by the U.S. since last January and denounced threats of military aggression against the island.
In turn, while acknowledging the CYM's solidarity, the Cuban ambassador explained the difficult circumstances his country is facing due to measures adopted against Cuba by the Trump Administration. He noted that his country is living through decisive moments. He added that, just as it did during the Bay of Pigs (Playa Girón), the October Crisis, the collapse of the socialist bloc, and other major challenges, the Cuban Revolution will prevail
