Dublin, August 13, 2026. The Cuba Solidarity Forum Ireland (CSFI) dedicated the preparation of a container of medical supplies—destined for the "Hermanos Amejeiras" Hospital—to the centenary of the Commander-in-Chief, which is being celebrated today.
During the event marking the Commander-in-Chief's 100th anniversary, the container was loaded with supplies and vital medical equipment. This initiative is part of a campaign in Ireland to counter the cruel U.S. blockade against the island. Attendees included Cuban Ambassador Bernardo Guanche Hernández; Senator Chris Andrews, coordinator of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cuba; and CSFI coordinator Marie Barry, the renowned Dr. David Hickey, among other Irish supporters.
This marks the fifth container the CSFI has sent to the island in solidarity with the Cuban people, made possible through contributions from Irish friends across the island, trade unions—such as SIPTU (Ireland's largest, with around 200,000 members)—Cuban residents, and others.
The Cuban diplomat expressed gratitude for the supporters' efforts in making this noble initiative a reality. He also highlighted the significance of dispatching this fifth container on a day when so many people in Cuba and around the world are celebrating the birth of the Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz.
