Nicosia, February 9, 2023. - The Ambassador of Cuba, Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, representing the Minister of Health of the Caribbean island, and the Minister of Health of Cyprus, Mr. Michalis Hadjipantela, signed on the morning of February 9, 2023, at the Ministry of Health, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Cuba and the Republic of Cyprus for Cooperation in the field of Public Health and Medical Sciences, inspired by the desi re to promote their bilateral relations in this field and with a view to strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding.
The Memorandum envisages working with the objective of promoting cooperation between the two States in the field of public health and medical sciences, specifically in the area of pharmaceuticals and in the field of education in medical sciences.
The Minister of Health of Cyprus appreciated the effort to strengthen relations between the two countries, which have a long history of bilateral relations. He also emphasized that the signing of the Memorandum will create synergies for cooperation in the area of their competence.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador thanked the Minister for his constant work to strengthen the ties between the two countries and their peoples through the Memorandum, which will allow the exchange of experiences in the field of health and medical science education, as well as in the pharmaceutical area. The Ambassador emphasized that the work begins now, with the willingness of both countries to implement what has been agreed.
Also present at the MoU signing ceremony were Dr. Olga Kalakouta, Head of International Relations of the Ministry of Health, Health Officer Mr. George Savva, Mrs. Alexandra Phasaria, Press and Information Officer of the Ministry of Health, and Mr. Ioannis Kkolos, representative of the Cyprus Pharmaceutical Services.
