The event also brought together Dr. Irving McIntyre, deputy leader of the Labour Party, along with other prominent members of the LDP executive as well as PCC militants.
The Exchange and Cooperation Agreement aims to strengthen bipartisan relations in areas of common interest, such as political training, communication, exchange of delegations, mutual learning and dialogue. This pact seeks to foster mutual collaboration that generates concrete benefits for both peoples and the political forces signing the text.
In her remarks, Cassanni Laville thanked Cuba for its continued support and added: “Our relationship with Cuba is founded upon a shared commitment to social justice, equality, and the empowerment of our people. For decades, we have stood together in solidarity, united by our common values and the mutual respect that binds our two nations. Our leader, Prime Minister Skerrit, ascribes high value to the relationship between Dominica and Cuba, acknowledging the profound contributions Cuba has made to our development. Cuba has been there for us during our most challenging moments.” said Laville.
For his part, Miguel Fraga highlighted Cuba's commitment to Caribbean integration and international solidarity. “Our commitment to Caribbean unity and solidarity is a priority that we reaffirm, because we are united not only by geography, but also by a common history of struggle and hope. At this special moment, we cannot fail to remember and recognize the work of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and Army General Raul Castro Ruz in building friendly and respectful relations with the Caribbean in general and with Dominica in particular. That legacy, based on universal values of solidarity, has been continued with determination and vision by our First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. Dear comrades, let us continue working together, as one Caribbean people, for a future of justice, dignity and shared progress.” said Fraga.
This agreement reinforces the determination of Cuba and Dominica to work together to face global challenges by consolidating a model of collaboration based on solidarity, partnership and mutual respect.
