Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez Quesada gave an interview to the Iranian news agency AVA Diplomatic, for which he received his editor-in-chief, Mr. Mohammad Reza Nazari, at the headquarters of the Cuban embassy.
The Head of Mission agreed to answer a comprehensive questionnaire presented by this agency, which addressed several issues such as the scope of anti-imperialist thinking of the recently disappeared leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz; the latest changes in relations between Cuba and the US; and the current state of ties between the Island and the Persian nation in the political, economic, commercial, parliamentary and multilateral spheres.
In his remarks to the media, the Ambassador stressed that at the moment Cuba and Iran are in a process of relaunching their bilateral links, following the last exchanges of high-level visits that have taken place between the two nations.
In this regard, he highlighted the visit to Tehran in August 2016 of Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Economy and Planning, Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, was followed by successive stays in Havana by Mohammad Javad Zarif and Hassan Rouhani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of Iran, respectively. He added that the next XVI session of the Intergovernmental Commission, which will take place from 13 to 15 February, will also be an important milestone in this process.
AVA Diplomatic is a press agency that was created in 2013 in the light of the electoral victory of Hassan Rouhani and which aims to collect the points of view of relevant figures from the country's political sphere and from diplomats accredited in Tehran.
