Cuba and Iran signed an agreement on Sovereign 02 vaccine against COVID 19.

Tehran, January 9, 2020. The historical ties of friendship between the Republic of Cuba and the Islamic Republic of Iran were strengthened with the signing yesterday afternoon in Havana, of a new agreement related to the Sovereign 02 vaccine against Covid-19.

Signed at the headquarters of the Group of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba, BioCubaFarma, the agreement between the Finlay Vaccine Institute and the Pasteur Institute of Iran will complement clinical evidence of the Sovereign 02 vaccine candidate and will contribute to rapid progress in the processes of immunization against this disease in both countries.

The Pasteur Institute of Iran is a prestigious scientific institution that has a long and solid history of collaboration with BioCubaFarma institutions based on the common interest of protecting the health of our peoples.

Cuba and Iran continue to resist the most cruel and inhumane sanctions of the United States government, which have been intensified in times of the Covid-19 pandemic in direct contradiction to the spirit of cooperation and respect for the right to life of our citizens. With the signing of this new agreement, both nations ratify the good state of their bilateral relations and the will to promote economic, commercial and cooperation ties.
