Cuba and Mongolia celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations

Havana, December 21, 2020- The Republic of Mongolia and the Republic of Cuba canceled this Monday a commemorative stamp on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries, in the presence of the member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Relations Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, and the Mongolian ambassador to Cuba, Excma. Mrs. Battsetseg Shagdar.

At the event, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, highlighted the uninterrupted ties of friendship between the two nations, which have been consolidated in the political, cultural and economic fields. During these six decades, bilateral ties have been characterized by historical exchanges of visits at the highest level, mutual respect, agreement in multilateral forums and organizations, as well as by the coincidence in the defense of multilateralism and the principles of International Law.

For her part, Ambassador Battsetseg Shagdar, confirmed her country's willingness to continue strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest, while recalling the close ties of friendship between both nations.

The ceremony, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was attended by executives of various Cuban organizations and institutions and MINREX officials.

For the cancellation of the commemorative stamp, has been selected the stamp circulated on December 7, 2010 that had the official support of Resolution No. 147 of 2010 of the Ministry of Communications, and was destined to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Cuba.

The issue was designed by José Antonio Medina, with a face value of 85 cents and a circulation of 66,245 copies.

The stamp reproduces the image of a Cuban lute and a Mongolian horse-headed violin. Two intertwined hands also appear, symbolizing the unity between the two peoples.

The canceling stamp reflects the monument erected to the Mongol leader Genghis Khan, a transcendental figure for the people of Mongolia, a symbol of the history and culture of that country; while the cache recreates the national flags of both countries in motion.
