Cuba and Nicaragua: brothers anywhere in the world

Pretoria, 28 August 2025. - Officials from the Cuban Embassy in South Africa participated today in the event commemorating the assault on the National Palace of Nicaragua, which took place on 22 August 1978 and constituted a milestone in the history of the Central American country and a key action by the Sandinista National Liberation Front in the struggle against the Somoza dictatorship.

The memory of heroes such as Edén Pastora, Hugo Torres Jiménez, Dora María Téllez and Walter Ferreti, faithful fighters for Nicaragua's definitive independence, was honoured.
