Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are committed to fostering educational collaboration.

Kingstown, 18 February 2026.- The Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation and Digital Transformation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Honorable Phillip Jackson, held a cordial meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, in which both sides reaffirmed the will to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation in education.

During the exchange, the minister highlighted the deep historical ties that unite the two peoples and recalled with special gratitude his stage of academic training in Cuba, an experience that - according to him - positively marked his professional and personal life and allowed him to see firsthand the island’s commitment to education and international solidarity.

Meanwhile, the Cuban ambassador provided an update on the complex situation that Cuba is experiencing, particularly with regard to fuel availability, as a result of the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government. He explained that these measures have significantly impacted key sectors of the economy and daily life in the Caribbean nation.

Nevertheless, the diplomat assured that the Vincentian students, who are studying in Cuba, are in good condition and continue to develop normally their academic programs, thanks to the efforts of the Cuban government to ensure the continuity of the teaching-education process.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing to promote joint initiatives in areas such as technical and vocational training, innovation and digital transformation, For the benefit of the sustainable development of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the strengthening of the traditional ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries (Embassy of Cuba in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines/Cubaminrex)
