Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines assess cooperation in the fisheries sector.

Kingstown, January 23, 2026— The minister of Fisheries, Marine Conservation and Climate Resilience of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Conroy Huggins, held a meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to this country, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, to exchange views on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fisheries sector.

During the meeting, both sides discussed potential areas of collaboration in sustainable fisheries development and technical capacity-building, taking into account the common challenges faced by small island developing States.

Minister Huggins highlighted the importance of promoting responsible practices that contribute to the protection of marine ecosystems and the economic development of the fisheries sector, and positively valued Cuba’s experience and expertise in this field.

Meanwhile, ambassador Rodríguez Etcheverry reaffirmed the willingness of the Cuban Government to continue promoting cooperation and the exchange of experiences with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, for the benefit of sustainable development and food security in both countries.

The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere and reaffirmed the mutual interest in further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between both countries (Embassy of Cuba to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines/Cubaminrex).
