Kingstown, June 10, 2024. – With the attendance of the Prime Minister, Dr. Ralph E. Gonsalves, a political and cultural event that celebrated the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries took place at the Cuban Embassy in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, which ha ve been distinguished by the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity between both peoples and governments.
In his speech, the Cuban Ambassador to this sister nation, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, referred to the mutual benefit of having developed bilateral ties of friendship, cooperation and ratified Cuba’s will to continue consolidating them in all possible areas. He also thanked the government of St. Vincent for its invaluable support in the struggle against the US blockade.
The Prime Minister recalled his close relations with Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro and the current President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez. Likewise, he thanked Cuba for all the support provided over these more than 3 decades.
At the end of his remarks, the Prime Minister read an official statement from the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, calling on the US government once again to immediately remove Cuba from the so-called list of states sponsors of terrorism and demanding the unconditional lifting of the embargo.
Bernard Hamilton, coordinator of the Cuba-St. Vincent Friendship Society, also read the statement published in recent days, in which Vincentian friends demand that the United States remove Cuba from the list of States that allegedly sponsors Terrorism.
The Cuban-Vincentian band "Jazz Tropical Project" entertained the evening to the rhythm of Latin jazz, Reggae and traditional Cuban music.
After 32 years of relations, Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are engaged in political dialogue at the highest level, as well as increasing mutually beneficial cooperation.
