Cuba and South Africa are committed to cooperation in science and technology

Havana, 17 April 2025 - As part of the official visit of the South African Minister of Science and Technology, Blade Nzimande, to Cuba, a series of meetings were held between his delegation and Cuban institutions related to science and technology, with the aim of exploring areas of common interest for the development of cooperation in these fields.

The South African Minister visited the Havana Technology Park and the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, where he met with managers and scientists from these centres in order to promote bilateral cooperation. He also held fruitful meetings with the Ministers of Higher Education and International Relations, Walter Baluja and Bruno Rodríguez respectively.

The Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and the Environment, Armando Rodríguez Batista, also received his South African counterpart, with whom he discussed the real possibilities of promoting bilateral cooperation, for which both ministers signed a Statement of Intent.
