Pretoria, 8 January 2026. This morning, at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission, the Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, received the Deputy Director General of the Department of Basic Education, Simone Geyer, and the subdirector from the Latin America and Caribbean Directorate of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Joe Erasmus.
The discussion between the parties focused on the enormous potential for cooperation between Cuba and South Africa in the education sector, as well as ways to strengthen the already existing cooperation. Those present advocated for the continued development and diversification of these ties, which are mutually beneficial to our nations.
The Cuban Ambassador was also accompanied by the mission's Economic Counsellor, Yulian Reyes, and the Second Secretary in charge of political affairs, Bryan Betancourt.
