Cuba and South Africa evaluate the progress of bilateral relations.

Pretoria, 30 October 2025: The Cuban Ambassador to South Africa, Mr Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, was received by the Chief Director for the Americas at the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation, Mr Ambassador Msoliza Bona, for a periodic review of the main issues of bilateral interest.

The ambassador was accompanied by Yulian Reyes, the mission's commercial advisor, and Bryan Betancourt, the second secretary in charge of political affairs.

During the cordial meeting, they highlighted the excellent level of political relations, as well as the need to continue expanding and diversifying cooperation in economic and trade matters. Both parties recognised the strength of the bilateral relationship, which has been fruitful for over 30 years.

The recent Cuban victory at the United Nations, where 165 countries expressed their support for the island in its struggle against the blockade, was also noted. The Cuban diplomat thanked the South African government and people in particular for their unwavering solidarity with the Caribbean nation.
