Pretoria, April 2, 2021.- The head of the Cuban brigade of public works specialists deployed in South Africa, Pedro Pérez Leyva and the Third Secretary of the Cuban Embassy in Pretoria, Dianelis Forestal Mejías, made a fruitful working visit to the Limpopo province, in which they held conversations with Namane Dickson Masemola, MEC of Public Works and other senior representatives of that Department in Limpopo.
At the meeting, the parties reviewed the progress of Cuban cooperation in the construction sector in that town. An update was offered on the performance of the 11 Cuban aid workers who currently offer technical advice in the provincial department and proposals were made to continue increasing and diversifying current cooperation, taking into account their successful results.
MEC Masemola highlighted that "the experience that Cuban specialists have contributed to the Department has been key in all the infrastructure projects in which they have participated, both for buildings and for roads." He further stated that the relationship between Cuba and South Africa is extraordinary and made reference to Cuba's help in the fight against Apartheid, especially its vital participation in the epic Battle of Cuito Cuanavale.
The head of the provincial Department of Public Works, Dikgole Timothy Seroka, described the work of Cuban technicians in Limpopo as excellent, especially in the area of supervising the quality of project completion, advising professionals with less qualifications and linking to projects aimed at the benefit of the communities.
The Cuban side thanked the support given by the local authorities to the Cuban specialists, and ratified the willingness to continue and expand cooperation in the sector in areas of mutual interest.
