Havana, November 22, 2023 - Cuba and the United Kingdom signed this Wednesday at the Cuban Foreign Ministry headquarters a Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement, a document that provides a framework for collaboration and further development of bilateral political, economic, social and cultural ties.
The document was initialled by Mr. David Rutley, Minister for the Americas and the Caribbean of the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and by the Deputy Minister of MINREX, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with this important agreement, which will contribute to the strengthening of relations between Cuba and the United Kingdom.
The British visitor held a courtesy meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, where both discussed the progress of bilateral relations and cooperation links. The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for the UK's support for Cuba's resolution against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States.
The British delegation also held talks with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, in which various issues on the bilateral, regional and international agenda were discussed.
Mr. Rutley and his delegation also exchanged with the Director of Trade Policy for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, Inalvis Bonachea, who offered them an update on the Cuban economic model.
George Hollingbery, Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Cuba, and Anne Aichroth, Political Officer of the British Embassy in Havana, accompanied the senior British Foreign Ministry official during his visit to our country.
Rodolfo Benítez Verson, Director General of Multilateral Affairs and International Law; Ileana Núñez Mordoche, Director of Europe and Canada; and other officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also participated in the exchanges on behalf of MINREX.
