Cuba and the United States, the bridge of poetry.

Poetry built bridges today between Cuba and the United States during a meeting in this capital under the title Poets Speak, with the participation of Nancy Morejon and E.Ethelbert Miller.

Morejon, one of the most relevant voices of Cuban and Latin American poetry, traveled to Washington DC in one of the stops of the tour that took her to the Poetry in April Festival, an international event held annually in Chicago (Illinois) and is recognized as the most outstanding literary event in Spanish in the Midwest (Midwest) of the United States.

He also participated in the international conference Afro-Cuban Legacies at the University of Missouri, as well as in other meetings of intellectuals in San Francisco (California) and at the end of his stay here he will travel to New York, where he will conclude his tour.

National Literature Award 2001, the essayist, translator and journalist also read some of her poems with Miller in one of the city establishments of Busboys and Poets, a group of restaurants in the Washington metropolitan area founded by the artist and social entrepreneur Andy Shallal, a great friend of Cuba.

With a sweet and lilting voice, yet energetic and firm, Morejon shared with the audience his poems such as Mujer Negra, Black Woman, Black Prince for George Floyd and Qana, the latter dedicated to Palestine, which were later heard by Miller in English.

In previous statements to Prensa Latina, Morejon expressed his admiration for E. Ethelbert Miller, an African-American literary activist and author of several collections of poetry.
