Cuba approaches the coastal city of Kotka

Helsinki, August 26, 2022.- The Ambassador of Cuba, Beatriz Parra, and the Consul Adalberto Ávila, paid a visit to the coastal city of Kotka, where they were received by their councilor, Jouko Rauhala.

At the meeting, the Cuban diplomats highlighted current national issues, in particular the new measures adopted in the economic field to promote the country's development, despite the intensification of the United States blockade, of which they shared copious information in the exchange.

The Cuban Ambassador also referred to the anticovid strategy and obtaining vaccines as part of it. She also highlighted the importance of having a cultural space to bring the inhabitants of Kotka closer to Cuba.

The councilman, for his part, referred to the economic strengths of the region and highlighted the main characteristics of the local population, in which he explained, emigrants of 45 nationalities converge. He highlighted the welcome offered to Ukrainian citizens and their integration into local activities. The authority also referred to the new goals that the city sets for 2023.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Finland-Cuba Association who have been very close to the Island for a long time.
