Cuba awards scholarship to young cuban-iranian to study medicine

Tehran, August 19, 2025.- The Cuban ambassador to Iran, Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, during an event held at the Cuban Embassy in Tehran to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, presented the application for a free scholarship to study medicine in Cuba to the young Cuban-Iranian Guevara Babaahmadi Brito.

In his remarks, the Cuban ambassador referred to the beginnings of Cuba's free government scholarship program, highlighting that it is one of Fidel's most important legacies, inspired by his humanist and internationalist vision.

For her part, Guevara expressed that with the awarding of this scholarship, she has fulfilled her lifelong dream and pledged to undertake her studies in such a demanding and humane career with responsibility and maturity. Moved, she confessed that her heart always beats faster when she hears the word Cuba, and that she considers it a privilege to be able to return to our country after many years of absence.
