The January 1st 2020 the members of the Embassy of Cuba, together with collaborators from different sectors represented in South Africa and Cuban residents in this country, celebrated the advent of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
The celebration was a favorable framework for the Chargé d'affaires, Liliam Tápanes, to pronounce a few words, recalling the recent speech of our president Miguel Díaz Canel Bermúdez addressed to Cuban diplomacy on its 60th anniversary and the role it has played, along with numerous institutions , essential to win great battles, such as:
The return to Cuba of the child Elián González, the mobilization of international solidarity in the battle for the return to Cuba of our Five heroes, the fight against the blockade in the UN achieving the increasingly massive support for the draft resolution that Cuba has presented to the United Nations General Assembly, for almost three decades, as a demonstration of tenacity and perseverance, of the fight vote by vote against the attempts of the United States to prevent the condemnation of its genocidal policy, resorting to pressures, coercion and lies.
Representing the Communist Party of Cuba, Mireya Pupo mentioned the economic tensions that continue to intensify the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on our people and urged us to remain alert during the coming year.
She expressed the feeling of all Cubans in support of our President's call to work and think as a country and to resist the external onslaught whose objective is to destabilize the process led by Fidel Castro since January 1, 1959. She recalled his words when in his speech to the Cuban Parliament on December 21, he pronounced a phrase that looked at the popular imagination: “they shooted to kill us and we are alive.
As good Cubans, did not lack the nice music, dance and dominoes.........
