Havana, May 17, 2024 - The commemorative cancellation of a postage stamp on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and South Africa took place this Friday morning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ceremony was chaired by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Peñalver Portal.
This simple and moving tribute not only commemorated three decades of brotherhood between Cuba and South Africa, but also the close friendship and respect that united their leaders Fidel and Mandela.
The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa in Cuba, H.E. Ms. Yvonne Nkwenkwezi Phosa; the President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Fernando González Llort; the First Deputy Minister of Communications, Wilfredo González Vidal; the President of Correos de Cuba, Pablo Julio Pla Feria; as well as the Ambassadors of Angola, Namibia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
