Cuba coordinates the 19th edition of the Latin America Film Festival in Australia

Canberra, 3 October 2024. Throughout the second half of the year, the 19th edition of the Latin America Film Festival will be held in the main Australian cities. An event where the cinema of the region is welcomed by the Australian public. For the first time the event will take place in the city of Darwin, capital of the Northern Territory, as well as in Brisbane (opening on 16 October), in Melborune (opening on 18 October), Latin American films will also be presented at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Sydney from 1 November and in Tasmania from 26 October and in Wollongong (opening on 31 October). In the case of Adelaide, it will take place in November.

The LAFF is an event that has gained space over the last 19 years and brings together the best of Latin American cinema at every opportunity. This year the Cuban film is ‘Strawberry and Chocolate’ in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of that great work.

This year, Cuba is coordinating the Festival with the support of different institutions, in particular the Council for Latin America and the Caribbean (COALAR).

A unique opportunity to get closer to Latin American cinema.
