Cuba-Dominica: Dominican students travel to Cuba to study at Cuban universities

Dominica, Roseau, August 28, 2017. As part of the Cuba-CARICOM Agreement, 14 Dominican students traveled to Cuba to attend university. As every year, a group of Dominican students begin higher education in Cuba as part of the human resources training program that the island has been developing for several years with several Caribbean nations.

Young Dominicans will fundamentally be trained in careers linked to health, although others will also attend careers related to engineering. At the moment, about one hundred Dominicans are preparing in Cuban universities and about 400 have graduated in Cuba, since this program began in the late 70's.

The Dominican government and people on different occasions have expressed their gratitude for this collaboration between the two Caribbean nations. At the same time, the Cuban government has expressed the political will to continue developing this kind of collaboration between nations of the South.
