As expected, Cuba is once again at the centre of several controversies and, as it is often the case of these cyclic events of media and public crucifixion, the country is the centre of "world heresy", according to several trifling and perpetual Cubanologists.
Cuba is spared nothing, not even that, under the brutal siege of the blockade, it is fighting a battle on many more fronts than before, internal and externally, economic and culturally, like few nations.
Some of us envisioned the new horizon, which seemed ideal for the new claws: the coronavirus and the pack of lies and segregation of news were only a matter of days away. As in any good budgeted script, the show would begin shortly.
If we perform a direct and detailed dissection, the "expert approaches" led by false and apocalyptic prophets, predicted for the country the worst handling of the crisis at global scale, with poor coverage at all levels. Therefore, the expected results were a high death toll even higher than China and Italy combined.
From the point of view of conducting journalism or mass media games, it is a ruthless and intentional abomination to attack the most painful and sensitising topics, manipulating those who, for various reasons, still have doubts about the new confrontational scenario.
We could quote some statements by the US authorities against the Cuban medical brigades sent to countries that have requested them. Just recently, naturalised Cubans or citizens with resident status have been urged to leave Cuba, arguing alleged obstacles in the Cuban immigration system.
The macabre political handling of Cuba's aid to the British cruise ship, and the obstacles to humanitarian shipments by Chinese philanthropist Jack Ma, show the life-long and bleeding paranoia the US leadership suffers against the island.
Cuba is not the world epicentre of the pandemic. It is not our country that shows more fatal cases at the local or regional level, much less worldwide. It is not our archipelago that applies health fees to its citizens, nor do they depend on health insurance to be diagnosed and treated for the horrible disease. It is not Cuba that puts capital before human beings, nor does it let its guard down in prevention.
Instead, it is Cuba that, still fiercely blocked, sends its "fearsome white armies" to help the world, while saving itself with its own resources, very few materials, and so many humans.
This very same Cuba attacked and harassed by the sorcerers of evil, by profaners of good, by acolytes and annexationists disguised in sheep’s clothing- no matter how much it hurts- remains the great power of humanism and prevention. This Cuba, instead of exhibiting streets full of corpses and heartbroken children, has thousands of its heroes on the road, protecting its own people, killing the bad guys with their future cannon.
And for that, they will never forgive us.
