Cuba Hosts “Pearl of the South” Investment Forum

On October 9 and 10, the city of Cienfuegos hosted the Tourism Investment Forum “Pearl of the South: A Destination of Opportunities” at the magnificent Palacio de Valle, one of the city’s most impressive architectural treasures. The event aimed to strengthen existing policies and explore new business opportunities.

The Tourism Investment Forum was designed to showcase the region’s Portfolio of Investment Opportunities, which includes 10 attractive hotel projects highlighting the city’s exceptional natural, historical, and cultural offerings, while fostering partnerships and opening the door to new and better opportunities.

Coordinated by Cuba’s Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) and the Cienfuegos delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, the forum brought together more than 240 participants, both in person and online. They included representatives from five embassies, 35 Cuban and foreign companies, and 22 private-sector ventures. In addition, more than 30 tour operators and advisers from various countries participated virtually, according to an official publication by the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba.

Attendees took part in tourism business meetings and tours of health tourism facilities operated by the Cuban Medical Services Marketing Company (Comercializadora de Servicios Médicos Cubanos, S.A.), the Popular Camping Company, the Islazul and Gran Caribe hotel chains, and the Tourism Real Estate Company.

With its historic center designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, Cienfuegos combines historical, natural, and cultural attractions that make it one of the most appealing destinations in south-central Cuba.

The event is part of the national strategy to diversify source markets and attract foreign investment, reaffirming the island’s commitment to sustainable tourism development.
