A few hours before the 63rd anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), the Cuban Mission in the United States celebrated today the anniversary of the largest mass organization in the country.
Gathered at the headquarters of the Cuban representation and on behalf of his comrades, Iraset Brooks referred to the historical significance of the founding, on September 28, 1960, of the CDR thanks to the vision of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
He said that "we must be firm watchdogs of the Revolution wherever we are" and reiterated the need -as the national leadership of the Committees has assessed- to revitalize and strengthen the work of the organization in the communities.
The head of the Cuban Mission in the United States, Lianys Torres, took the opportunity to reiterate her condemnation of the terrorist attack perpetrated last September 24, when an individual threw two Molotov cocktails at the Cuban embassy building in the capital.
The attack - the second to hit the Cuban legation since 2020 - occurred after the successful visit of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel to New York, Torres recalled.
She commented on the interventions of the Cuban leader in the High-Level Segment of the 78th United Nations General Assembly, where he spoke for Cuba and the G77 and China, the group he presides until early 2024.
The diplomat pointed out that the head of state held important meetings with representatives of different sectors and that he closed his visit with a great solidarity event in New York.
Torres conveyed President Díaz-Canel's message of gratitude for the work of all the members of the diplomatic service who, from their posts, ensured the success of the visit.
