The empire owes us more than 3,000 dead compatriots, countless material damages, unparalleled suffering caused by terrorist acts of which people recruited and trained by the United States are guilty.
The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in a meeting with the Chilean Foreign Minister, Antonia Urrejola, stated, in the height of petulance: "We have to make the Cuban government accountable".
Who is accountable to whom? Cuba has never committed a hostile act against the American people, no aggression or terrorist act has ever been committed from our country or under our country's protection against our neighboring nation.
If we sinned in our common history, it was of incautiousness, when our compatriots believed that the northern republic would immediately come to support the Cubans who rose up to achieve freedom and independence from Spain in 1868, but they never recognized the Republic in Arms and supported, materially and morally, Spanish colonialism.
In 1895 history repeated itself. Once again they armed Spain, gave it their resources and even their navy to pursue the expeditionary ships that were leaving for the island to fight for freedom. The subsequent history is well known.
They promoted coups d'état when their interests were affected, plundered the wealth, invaded with their troops when they felt like it, protected by the Platt Amendment, armed, protected and trained the assassins led by Fulgencio Batista, the Yankee strongman in Cuba.
When the Revolution triumphed, they imposed on us an economic, commercial and financial blockade which, extended and intensified with real viciousness, still lasts, they invaded us, trained mercenaries, organized armed gangs, carried out sabotage, made attempts on the lives of our leaders, manipulated emigration for political ends.... The list is long.
They owe us more than 3,000 dead compatriots, countless material damages, unparalleled suffering caused by terrorist acts of which people recruited and trained by the US, criminals who live peacefully in that country, are guilty.
They must be accountable to the Cuban people for the biological warfare, for the economic aggression that has limited the development and welfare of our compatriots for years, for preventing the purchase of medicines and medical equipment necessary to save lives, even in times of pandemic, for trying to shut down our homes, for the parts needed for our means of transportation, our thermoelectric plants, our factories, they must be accountable for years of lies and threats.
We have always offered them the possibility of establishing good relations and they have rejected it, time and again, full of arrogance and political immaturity.
Cuba does not hide its accounts, it has them very clear. We are accountable to the peoples of the world with our daily actions, never to those who seek to bring us to our knees.
