Cuba is once again nominated for the Wanderlust Travel Awards

The nomination for this competition in 2025 demonstrates Cuba's recognition as one of the most desirable destinations in the world and reaffirms its right to develop with dignity, sovereignty and respect for its cultural identity.

Cuba has once again been nominated for the prestigious Wanderlust Travel Awards 2025, one of the most important awards in the tourism sector in the United Kingdom. This competition, organised since 1993 by Wanderlust magazine, has become one of the most influential awards among travellers, industry professionals and lovers of unique destinations. More than 200,000 individual voters are expected to participate in this edition.

In 2025, Cuba is competing in two main categories: ‘Most Desirable Country in the World’ and ‘Most Desirable Island in the World’, distinctions that recognise travellers' preference for its natural landscapes, the warmth of its people and its cultural richness.

The Caribbean island also features in other key categories that reinforce its visibility and chances of success:

Most Desirable City in the World: Havana

- Most Desirable Country for its Culture and Heritage

- Most Desirable Country for its Nature and Wildlife

- Most Desirable Country for Adventure

- Most Desirable Country for its Gastronomy

- Most Desirable Country for its Sustainability

Our island has been among the British public's favourite destinations in previous editions. In 2021, it won the category of ‘Most Desired Island in the World’, beating destinations with a long tradition of tourism. Havana has also been among the most voted cities.

These awards reflect Cuba's appeal as a comprehensive tourist destination, combining idyllic beaches, heritage cities, unique landscapes, a rich cultural heritage and a people renowned for their hospitality and warm affection.

Tourism is one of the strategic sectors of the Cuban economy, essential for generating income and employment, especially in the context of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government. A good result in the Wanderlust Travel Awards helps to strengthen Cuba's image as a responsible and sustainable destination, capable of attracting travellers from all over the world and diversifying its offer in terms of culture, nature, adventure, gastronomy and sustainability.

Voting for the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards 2025 will be open until 17 October 2025, offering thousands of friends of Cuba the opportunity to join in this international support.
