Sydney, Australia. September 28, 2026. Luis Eduardo Soto Silva, MSc, representing Cuba’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), is participating from September 28 to 30 in the Eighth Global Dialogue—an event focused on investment—held at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour. The event takes place within the framework of the Sharm el-Sheikh Mitigation Ambition and Implementation Work Programme.
Organized by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), this international forum brings together governments, experts, and global stakeholders to drive mitigation solutions, promote climate investment, and strengthen international cooperation on climate action. The event is part of the annual dialogues established by Decision 4/CMA.4, aimed at accelerating the implementation of mitigation measures during this critical decade.
Cuba’s participation in this forum helps highlight national mitigation efforts, strengthen ties with institutions and specialists from diverse regions, and share experiences regarding the challenges and opportunities associated with the transition to low-carbon economies. Furthermore, it reaffirms the country's commitment to international cooperation, multilateral climate action, and the pursuit of practical solutions that foster sustainable and equitable development.
The Sharm el-Sheikh Work Programme, established in 2021 and expanded in 2022, constitutes one of the key global mechanisms for raising climate ambition, promoting the implementation of mitigation policies, and facilitating technical exchange among the Parties to the Paris Agreement. Cuba's participation in the Eighth Global Dialogue reflects the country's commitment to actively contributing to these collective efforts.
