Cuba participates in meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland

Helsinki, October 27th.- On the afternoon of October 27th, the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Ambassadors and Heads of Mission in Helsinki was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland, H.E. Mr. Pekka Haavisto.

Within the framework of the meeting, a review was made of Finland's ties with the region, characterized by cooperation, frank political dialogue and understanding on multiple issues on the international agenda.

The representative of the Greater Antilles, Charge d'Affaires a.i, Víctor M. Rodríguez Etcheverry sent a greeting message from Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla to his Finnish counterpart. In addition, he took the opportunity to highlight the positive development of the bilateral political dialogue, the growth of contacts in the economic-commercial sphere, as well as Cuba's willingness to continue strengthening its ties with Finland, an important partner within the European Union.

Rodríguez Etcheverry thanked the Finnish Foreign Minister for the firm position of the Nordic country against the genocidal and illegal Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade of the United States against Cuba, the main obstacle to the development of the Cuban people, and reiterated Havana's willingness to continue exchanging support in different forums and multilateral organizations.

The meeting lasted just over two hours in a relaxed and constructive atmosphere. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland was accompanied by the Director General of the Americas and Asia, Ambassador Piritta Asunmaa, the Director of the Department of Latin America of the MAE, Counsellor Anu Vuori-Kiikeri, the Deputy Director of the Department, Counsellor Katja Karpinen-Njock, as well as other officials.
