Helsinki, December 1st. - The Charge d'Affaires a.i of Cuba in Finland, Víctor Manuel Rodríguez Etcheverry participated in the videoconference organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland to present the Report on foreign and security policy of the Nordic country in a year 2020.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Pekka Olavi Haavisto presented the report to the Diplomatic Corps virtually, which consists of 4 chapters and expose a balance of the work carried out by Finland in matters of foreign and security policy in the last year. Likewise, he referred to the fulfillment of the strategic objectives of the country, the priority areas of said policy and the risks and threats still existing for the future year. The Finnish head of diplomacy referred to the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on people and the economy, also saying that it leaves some lasting lessons for humanity.
The activity of the Foreign Service included strengthening the international role of Finland and guaranteeing the prosperity and efficiency of the society with foreign policy as a key spring to fulfill this purpose.
Haavisto explains that this report will be brought to the plenary session of the Finnish Parliament for approval next week. Several Ambassadors asked questions on the subject and it was decided to circulate the report for the consultation of all accredited diplomats.
