Pretoria, 28 November, 2025.- As part of the Science and Technology Forum programme organised and sponsored by the South African Department of Science, Technology and Innovation, Cuba's Ambassador to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, participated in a panel discussion on scientific diplomacy. The event has been taking place at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) since last Monday.
In his speech, the Cuban diplomat highlighted the achievements of Cuba's biopharmaceutical industry, emphasising its contributions to strong cooperation with numerous countries worldwide from a South-South perspective. He highlighted particularly the achievements of Cuban scientists during the pandemic, when they produced five vaccine candidates to fight the disease.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Bryan Betancourt Brito, Second Secretary of the Cuban Mission in Pretoria.
