Cuba pays tribute in South Africa to Commander Hugo Chávez

 

On the night of March 5, a tribute of remembrance to the Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez Frías was celebrated at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Pretoria, South Africa, on the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of his death.

In the activity, the Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa, Rodolfo Benítez Verson, spoke. In his message of tribute, the Ambassador pointed out that Cuba will never be able to forget the best friend of the Cuban people in all its history, as the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro rightly called it, he emphasized the contributions of Hugo Chávez to the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean including the creation of true integration spaces in the region, such as ALBA-TCP, UNASUR, CELAC, TELESUR, which speak for themselves of the greatness of this true revolutionary leader.

He took the opportunity to highlight the responsibility that revolutionaries have to defend Chávez's enormous legacy to the end, and in that context, he pointed out he need to continue supporting the Bolivarian Revolution to the various South African political and solidarity forces present at the event  at crucial moments for Venezuela and the region.

Participants included members of the Cuban embassy, ​​Cuban collaborators from various sectors, members of the South African Parliament, solidarity organizations, the Communist Party of South Africa, union leaders of the country, among others.
