North West, 24 July 2026 — The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in South Africa took part in the 10th Provincial Congress of the South African Communist Party (SACP), an occasion on which the commitment to unity and solidarity between the two parties and peoples was reaffirmed. The meeting was attended by the General Secretary of the SACP, Solly Mapaila.
On behalf of Cuba, the diplomatic mission representative, Karen Mendez, expressed deep gratitude for the expressions of support from the SACP and South Africa’s progressive forces, and emphasised that the Cuban people’s resistance to the blockade is also sustained by the internationalist solidarity of comrades such as the South African communists.
The Cuban Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to strengthen ties of friendship, cooperation and political coordination with the South African Communist Party and with all forces defending Cuba’s cause on the African continent.
