Belmopan, November 10, 2024.- The 17th. Belize International Film Festival took place from November 6 to 9 in this capital city, which featured a varied film sample from different countries.
Cuba was represented by the film "El Mayor", by director Rigoberto López Pego, in which the figure of Major General Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz stands out, who stood out for his proverbial patriotism, sacrifice and courage in the struggle of the Cuban people against Spanish colonialism.
Cuban National Hero José Martí, referring to his figure, defined him as a "Diamond with the soul of a kiss."
Cuban Ambassador María Caridad Balaguer Labrada, in her presentation, highlighted the figure of the distinguished patriot, who led important actions during the 10 Years' War at the head of the cavalry he commanded, until his fall in combat on May 11, 1873.
Present were Suzette Zayden, director of the Belize International Film Festival, Consul Gustavo Aguinaga Linares, Cuban health collaborators and guests, who appreciated a beautiful cinematographic work, dedicated to one of the most important stages in the history of Cuba. (EmbacubaBelize).
