Cuba ratifies willingness to establish the best cooperation relations with the European Parliament

Havana, February 1st.- "When you raise your voices with strong and truthful arguments in the hostile scenario created in the European Parliament, we hear the voice of the people of Cuba there," said Esteban Lazo Hernández, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, receiving nine deputies from the European Parliament, members of the group La Izquierda.

In the meeting, held yesterday at the National Capitol, the also member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba ratified the will to establish the best relations of cooperation with the European Parliament, based on equality, mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.

He highlighted the extraordinary value that this group has systematically condemning the US blockade against Cuba, and told them that they will verify the Cuban reality and our model of democracy, which they will be able to appreciate closely with the popular consultation of the Family Code.

The member of the European Parliament, Martin Schirdewan, co-president of the group La Izquierda, thanked the warm welcome and hospitality. “We want to send a clear signal to the rest of the political groups in the European Parliament that the Cuban people are not alone. We are your partners in these difficult times, in the face of the blockade and the pandemic; in strengthening its economic and social model," Schirdewan stressed.

Yesterday the MEPs exchanged with Cuban authorities on the health system, scientific and biotechnological development, and about the confrontation with COVID-19.
