Melbourne, 29 July, 2023. The national meeting of the Cuba Solidarity Association continued its activities in the city of Melbourne. More than 100 people gathered at the headquarters of the Maritime Union of Australia, Victoria branch, to discuss the Cuban reality and the best way to help the people of Cuba and its Revolution.
Emotional words of solidarity were expressed during the event by several members of the movement. Throughout the day a program began with a ceremony honoring the Aboriginal communities in Australia. Afterwards, the Cuban ambassador exchanged with those present about the current Cuban scenario and the capacity of creative resistance of the Cuban people. She also highlighted the value of unity and the role of Cuban youth in facing the challenges facing the nation.She also pointed out the effects of the intensified blockade.
The delegation of young Cubans representing ICAP and the biopharmaceutical sector expressed their gratitude for the support of the Cuban Solidarity Movement in Australia during its more than 40 years of existence and specifically from the context of the pandemic. They also offered information on the Cuban strategy to confront the pandemic and the creation of Cuban vaccines against Covid-19.
The activities will continue in the city of Melborune during the next days, working sessions dedicated to the Cuban Revolution that will culminate with the adoption of Resolutions declaring the solidarity and support of the Australian people to the Cuban people.
