Cuba Solidarity Campaign in the UK launches call for the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Cuban Henry Reeve Medical Brigade

London, 30 September 2020. The Cuba Solidarity Campaign in the UK (CSC) today launched a petition for the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the Cuban internationalist Henry Reeve Medical Brigade. The videoconference that provided the framework for the launch was attended from Havana by the Hero of the Republic of Cuba Rene Gonzalez Sehwerert.

The Secretary General of the Cuban Workers Central (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento sent a video greeting for the occasion. The Cuban Ambassador Bárbara Montalvo Álvarez thanked those present for the initiative, which she considered an act of justice towards the selfless work of our health collaborators around the world.

On the British side, the General Secretary of Unite, Len McCluskey participated, as well as Baroness Christine Blower, Labour member of the House of Lords and the Director of the CSC, Rob Miller, organiser of the event.  Miller announced that after the publication of the petition on the official website of the CSC earlier this afternoon, in just a few hours, more than two thousand people had signed it, among them several parliamentarians, academics and friends in general, who wrote emotional messages of solidarity and support accompanying their signature.
