Pretoria, February 17, 2025 - Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla highlighted the condemnation for the sixteenth time by the African Union (AU) against the US blockade imposed on the island for more than six decades.
On the social network X, the Foreign Minister stressed that the regional body asked to remove the Caribbean nation from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, during the 38th ordinary session of its General Assembly. ‘We thank its members for their support and fraternal solidarity,’ Rodríguez stressed on the platform.
The African heads of state and government, including South Africa, reiterated their support for the resolution adopted each year by the UN General Assembly against the economic, financial and commercial blockade, a vote backed by the majority of the international community as a rejection of Washington's policy.
They denounced as well the extraterritorial nature of the sanctions imposed on Cuba, which also affect third countries and companies seeking to establish economic and trade relations with the Antillean country.
