Cuba thanks Finnish authorities for their support against the US embargo

Helsinki, May  25, 2023.- The director of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Foreign Ministry of Finland H.E. Mr. Lasse Keisalo, held a metting with Cuban Ambassador, Beatriz Parra González. Both authorities dialogued about current issues of Cuba and the bilateral agenda.

The Ambassador shared information on the scope of the measures of US embargo, aggravated in the period of the pandemic, in particular due to the impossibility of accessing to the banks, after the unfair inclusion of Cuba on the list of State sponsors of terrorism. Cuba diplomat highlighted the gratitude to Finland, as a member state of the European Union, for its historical accompaniment to the Cuban demand for the end of this cruel policy.

For his part, director Keissalo welcomed the visit of Foreign Minister Joseph Borrel to Cuba and the continuity of the political dialogue with the European Union.

The moment was shared by the Deputy Director of Latin America and the Caribbean, Pilvi Taipale, and the Cuban Consul, Adalberto Ávila Parra.
