Helsinki, April 6, 2024.- Ambassador Beatriz Parra González participated in a pleasant meeting organized by the Turkish ambassador, HE Ms. Deniz Çakar, with the presence of HE Mr. Pekka Haavisto, former Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Finnish Parliament, where kind words were expressed by the host, shortly after that the Cuban diplomat ends her mission to this Nordic nation.

Also present were HE Mr. Mika Koskinen, Director General of Protocol; HE Mr. Josip Buljević, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of Croatia; and the ambassadors of Canada, Uruguay, Kazakhstan, Serbia, and the Philippines, as well as their distinguished partners. Particularly in the case of Cuba, the diplomat expressed her gratitude for the international support the island has received for the resolution against the blockade and highlighted the recent statement by the President of Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, in which she also denounced the recent campaigns promoted by the US Secretary of State against Cuban international medical cooperation.

The caribbean representative thanked HE Ms. Deniz Çakar, Ambassador of Turkey, for such a cordial invitation, for the solidarity recently received in Cuba from her country, and for the collaboration established during her stay in Helsinki, which is about to conclude.

The meeting took place in the former residence of the seventh President of Finland (1946-1956), Mr. Juho Kusti Paasikivi, now the official residence of the Turkish ambassador. The majestic house was designed by Paasikivi's daughter, Annikki, and built in 1930. The venue has magnificently preserved its original late neoclassical style, enriched with Turkish elements, admired by all the distinguished authorities there present.
