Havana, 6 January (Prensa Latina). The Foreign Minister of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, today welcomed the presence on the island of the "Cruz del Sur" Brigade from Australia.
In his profile on the social network X, the top representative of the Cuban diplomacy recalled that this solidarity movement has been building bridges of friendship between that Oceanian country and the Antillean nation for four decades.
"We appreciate your valuable support in the struggle for the lifting of the U.S. blockade", Rodriguez said in his message.
Together with the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society, the Southern Cross Brigade supports the right of Cuba to its sovereignty and independence and demands the lifting of the blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
It also calls for the return of the territory occupied by the illegal U.S. naval base in Guantanamo (east) and accompanied the battle for the return of the Five Heroes, who were imprisoned in the U.S. for defending Cuba against terrorist actions orchestrated in Florida.
The Brigade's solidarity actions include direct contact with the population and volunteer work.
This group will travel around the Isle of Youth, Villa Clara and other destinations in the Antillean island to visit schools, hospitals, farms and environmental and social projects, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed on the social network X.
