Cuba will host the 5th edition of the “Patria” Colloquium

The 5th International “Patria” Colloquium on Digital Communication will take place from April 16 to 18, 2026, at the Línea y 18 Cultural Station in Havana, consolidating its role as a key space for reflection, exchange, and the development of initiatives addressing the challenges of contemporary digital communication.

The event will bring together academics, journalists, communicators, and digital actors in a context marked by profound transformations in information ecosystems and the dynamics of meaning-making in the public sphere. In this setting, the colloquium aims to foster critical debate and generate proposals that contribute to more inclusive, sovereign, and participatory communication.

This fifth edition takes on special significance as it coincides with a historically symbolic moment: the centenary of the birth of Fidel Castro. A central figure in the “battle of ideas,” Fidel advanced a strategic vision of communication as a tool for emancipation, sovereignty, and popular organization.

In this regard, the tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution goes beyond a commemorative gesture. Rather than a ritual observance, the colloquium seeks to update his legacy in the field of digital communication, addressing issues such as narrative contestation, the construction of cultural hegemony, and the role of new technologies in shaping public debate in the 21st century.

In this way, the “Patria” Colloquium reaffirms its vocation as a platform for reflection and action, aimed at strengthening communication capacities and promoting a strategic vision in the face of the challenges of the global digital environment.
