Cuban Alumni Association in South Africa expresses its solidarity with Cuba

Pretoria, 21 May 2024 - The  Cuban Alumni Association of South Africa, CAASA, issued a statement on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and South Africa. The text included a strong condemnation of Cuba's continued inclusion on the State Department´s arbitrary list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

The Association conveyed its support for the island in the fight against the US blockade, which for more than 60 years has affected the Cuban people. It also demanded the removal of Cuba from this unjust and arbitrary list of countries sponsoring terrorism while refering to recent developments in this regard: "The removal of Cuba from the list of Non-Fully Cooperating Countries (NFCC) is for the US propaganda to show false “leniency” towards Cuba while all brutal and evil economic devastating sanctions are hypocritically maintained by the US government."

The South African graduates celebrate the close relationship that exists between the governments and peoples of the two countries. They also expressed their appreciation to the Cuban government for training them as professionals in different fields. They recognise that they left Cuba, but Cuba will never leave their hearts.
