Nicosia, 18 May 2024 - The Cuban Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero attended on Saturday 18 May 2024 a Nakba commemoration event in Eleftheria Square and later a panel discussion about Palestine under the slogan ‘We demand peace. We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people", in the framework of the Femme Fest Cyprus organised by POGO in the Municipal Gardens of Nicosia.
The keynote speakers were Aida Touma-Silman, PB member of the Communist Party of Isreal and member of KNESSET, Skevi Koukouma, General Secretary of the Left Women's Movement of Cyprus - POGO and Dogus Derya, President of the Turkish Cypriot Women's Organisation, moderated by the prominent journalist Rally Papagiorgiou.
The Cuban diplomat reiterated to the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, H.E. Mr. Abdallah Attari Cuba's support to the Palestinian cause for justice, peace and freedom for its people, as well as condemned the genocide taking place today (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
